It was enjoyable to watch the momentary confusion pass over his features. A contented hum rumbled within her throat softly.
When he leaned closer she raised an arched brow and grinned flashing a hint of white smile under her crimson lips. He could smell the sharp scent of booze she had been drinking. If he had any dealings with engineers or anything that may require it- it smelt a bit like goblin rocket fuel.
"Come now, a lesser woman? I will always strive for the best--especially if the odds are in my favor."
"Mmn..." she purred nodding her chin toward him a bit, "But ye see, ye may have thought any other woman ye had been with before was the 'better' woman... I didn't have to meet them to know ye were already wrong, simply coz they were not me. Fortune has favored ye the evening ye met me. Not every person out there gets to see the folly of their ways so," she winks, "very, very clearly."
As he sat back she watched him like a tigress.
It hadn't truly been a sincere care to ask about a wife, for if he had had one and was acting like this she couldn'tve been much of a woman to keep him satisfied properly, and if he had kids, well, they were not hanging off him this second. All things trivial concerns, if indeed they had been worth concern before. So, as he answered that part of her question she only nodded offhandedly.
Then the conversation shifted back to her, and it was as if she began to sparkle, and preen, drawing one of her fingers down the length of her left thigh, from the high curve of material on her hip down toward her knee the touch tapering off. "How cute ye assume I be rich... rolling in a bed of coin each night."
Her eyes tip-toed over his boots, pants, belt... assessing how much he may have tucked away, mental notes being carefully filed away. "Mmmn, tis true, I get what I want," the woman's voice dropped a few tones deeper, "one way...or another...." a soft inhalation her tone returning to normal, the corner of her mouth tickled by his playful tone, "But nay...." she feigned sadness, "no one significant."

Like clockwork his eyes followed her finger as it ran the length of her thigh, "Well sure--a bed of coins, or something like it. You've made a promise to pay, and the best men come at the best price." A bit of his chopped reddish hair ruffled slightly as a light breeze rolled in and his eyes climbed back up to hers stopping every step of the way.
"But, no one significant, eh? No one fit the bill? No one special enough? I dare say you could find yourself a rich one and never have to scour tombs for plunder again. Although..." his voice trailed away as he inched ever more closer to her, "That's just it right there... the thrill..." his voice faded again and look in his vivid eyes, and the smug smile on his face told enough; that his imagination had begun to wander. "Isn't it what we all seek?"
Soon enough he would pull away again and resume his own prying into her personal life. "And children? -Surely- you haven't any?" He rolled out in a very suggestive manner; as with a body like hers, he would find that hard to believe. Pregnancy can certainly impact a woman's body. "No little ones of your own running around your 'bed' of coin...? Mm. I suppose it's not too important though, any of this personal bit as business -is- business... surely." He added with a lustful glance.

Snorting she eyed him levelly though there was some amusement in her tone, "Nay, tis the greedy men that come fer the best price. The best ones tend to be more creative with what they want, and what they want to prove. Then there be.." she paused tilting her head, "...other who be the priceless sort. They got no price- even though everyone has some kinda price, but it aint usually coin."
An almost coy smile tugged at her lips, wondering which type he was, exactly. Moreover, which type did she want him to be.
As he continued to talk her expression grew smug, already formulating an answer in her head when he leaned in close and practically stole the answer word for word. This made her raise a brow her eyes shining for a moment with sincere interest in the man, amber orbs meeting blue ones. "Aye... the thrill be what makes it all so much... sweeter." Her chin jerked. "The boring ones don't seek the thrill. They be content to take whatever floats along, whatever be easiest. f*ck that. I want what i f*cking good and well deserve."
When he questioned her about children she had a ready laugh, "Nay, no f*ckin little leeches. Minus the ones in me gang," her eyes rolled and she snorted a jovial laugh, "and they all be 'adults'."
Sniffing with a high pitched noise in her throat she danced her fingertips along her collar bone, "Besides, I want to be the center of attention anyway. Ye add f*cking kids to the picture and by biological right they are supposed to get all the attention." smirks, "Or that be the general rules... In me rule book... -I- do."

He stuck out his lip a bit and gave a small nod of approval... he liked her answer. "Is true, you know. Creativity... the thrill..." His eyes locked in to hers, the amber swirl of color captivated the fair-skinned paladin for a moment. His train of though had been broken and he merely picked up as best he could. "... And your gang? Are they as creative as you? Do they seek the sweet spoils of the same well earned variety as you do?" There was a noticeable desire in his eyes as he spoke, and little by little his lips curled into his conceited smile.
"Or do you merely guide them as 'children'? I am not meaning any offense." He now began to speak in a sincere tone, "I'm just curious is all. Are they as strong willed as you?" His eyes followed her fingers as they began to move so eloquently along her collar bone. Each little move they made caused his eyes to follow suit. "And if they are then we all know strong willed people desire--possibly even crave to be the center of attention." His voice dropped lower, "Because you're absolutely right, Lady Kat, you are clearly not common rabble, you are one who deserves all of the attention."
He forced his eyes back up to meet hers, "And I'll be honest--although I'm sure it's no surprise--but you have thoroughly captured all of mine." He wasn't one to afraid to admit the situation he had now found himself in. The little game of back and forth which they had been playing during their conversation was seemingly over for the time being, and he just admitted that she had won.

It wasn't often Kat displayed any sincere and impressive remarks of wisdom or actual thought beyond the immediate moment, she did have a front to upkeep and all. However this guy seemed to deserve the little peek just the same. And he had liked what she said. Of course he would. He had long showed her he wasn't one of the usual knit wits roaming around Stormwind.
She twirled a stray lock of hair around her finger a moment, the hair might as well have been him, she figured with a private grin. "Ahh me gang... We all be unique people with unique minds and desires. Some of us be as different as sh*t and a flower." a chuckle bubbled in her throat, "Of course, none of them be just like me. But all of them...." There was a noted pause as she chewed on if she really wanted to say it out loud- for if any where around to hear her she would never hear the end of it. After all. How often did she ever give compliments.
"All of them deserve to wear the colors." her eyes scanned the immediate area just to be sure, "They all got the same drive and passion fer sh*t, in their own ways of course. I almost admire them some times. But then again, why wouldn't I? I chose them all, so it all just reflects on how f*cking awesome I am."
Blinking slowly she wet her smiling lips, "I aint no ones mother. I guide em when they need a kick in the ass, literally and figuratively. They amuse me." her hands gesture vaguely before her as if holding something, "They be like a fire." she glanced at him a moment to make sure he was following, then back to her hands where magical flames began to grow, fanning seven inches or so from her palms, flicking softly in the breeze, "I like to let them do as they wish, have their fun, pursue their goals- and mine- but sometimes..." the flames began to grow higher until it looked like she was soon to be holding a ball of fire the size of a bowling ball. With a quick clawing motion the fire began to twist, recede a bit, become more under control, "..they need direction. All that power and drive needs direction or else it gets out of control." The flames wink out as if never there and she flashes him a smile like a pleased child who just did something impressive, "When I intercede, I ensure things stay under control, one way, or another."
"Besides. They need me. Why, if it werent fer me, this one young girl never woulda learnt how to swim if I hadn't pushed her off the ledge into the moat around Lion's Rest." Nods to herself remembering the memory fondly. "She had to either learn or die." Smug grin, "I can be a very good teacher."
When his eyes met hers again she tilted her head back slightly as if looking down her nose at him. Yes, she knew she had his attention. She knew that awhile ago. Yet she wondered if he realized, he too had hers. Had she won? Really? Somehow the victory was unsettling.
"Of course I have." she said simply, eyes narrowing as she eagerly anticipated the next part of the game. How long would she keep it.
"What be it like in yer group... er gang.. er whatever ye call it eh? I sorely doubt whoever ye follow appreciates yer..." her eyes washed over him a moment, "Wit."

The large mass of paladin listened to her talk about those in her gang--clearly a group she cared for and respected, even if she had a reputation to protect. His head had been cocked to the side and everything seemed to dim. He was truly dialed in. He listened as he caught glimpses of her being genuine, and he knew this was a time to be paying attention. Remaining focused might not seem like much of a chore for some, but in his case there's many factors at play within his coppery topped head. The noises of the world around him pulling his naturally curious mind in one direction or the other, the stress and anxiety which everyone faces on the day to day basis, and of course, the voices whose icy fingers claw away at the back of his mind are all examples of the things which he must silence to focus. He had no issue here, as he often has no issue during a job; there are simply some things worth his time, and this had become of one them.
The fire reflected in his blue eyes as he watched her manipulate the flames. The way she used the metaphor to explain her connection to those she had chosen and her part she plays had resonated with him. She was security. She kept the other members in line despite the wild issues they might face--just as she quelled the wild flames in her hands.
"Mm. Indeed I'm sure they have their way of reflecting a piece of you, and while I haven't ever had an interaction with one from your gang--I'm sure they're just as impressive as the source material. And harsh lessons force one to adapt--they can frequently be a great... motivator." He bent his head back and took a deep breath, releasing the inhaled air with a sigh before beginning to speak anymore. "Outside of the church?" He stuck his lower lip out again and shook his head, "None. None worth my time or energy. If you don't have someone the same pace as you... or with the same wit..." he added with a smirk, "Then all they do is slow you down."

Through her demonstration she secretly reveled in the way he paid attention. As well he should too- after all, she was not one to give anyone a compliment so he would not likely hear such things from her lips again anytime soon.
While he was distracted she was not, her mind playing over potential scenes of how he may handle himself in battle. After all, how a man moved in battle, lent on to how they may move in other areas. Being one who had been born with daggers in her hands and having to fight her whole life, she could appreciate the art of movement in all its wicked and daring forms.
A droll smile tugged on her lips, her complementary tone entirely gone again as she snorted, "Aye, they have their moments... though they be few and far between. 'Tis hard, after all, fer others to mirror such perfection."
.."And harsh lessons force one to adapt--they can frequently be a great... motivator." he had said.
Those words made her brows raise as she hauled off and punched him in the shoulder (2.5) with a loud whoop, "f*ck YES!" After the shoulder punch she grabbed his upper arm in a play to see what his muscles were like as well as to emphasize her point, "It be SO f*cking nice to hear that ye agree! Ye wouldn't believe the number of condescending faces I got when I told them about that sink er swim moment. But YE get it eh?" she stared at him then releasing his arm, a whole new air of (was it?) appreciation for the man.
Her tone relaxed again as she chuckled and casually danced her fingertips along her arm, "Harsh lessons be usually the best lessons. None of that f*ckin tip-toeing around. Just f*ckin learn er don't. Nice and simple. Survival of the fittest and most deserving."
As his head tilted back she stared at his throat and clenched her jaw lightly. "Church eh? I aint never had much use fer the church er those in it. The Light aint done sh*t all fer me... though I had an experience once that made me think Elune might be actually real." a soft growl rumbled in her throat, she had given more insight into her private self then she had meant to. Sniffing irritably then she sighed and raked her nails down the left side of her neck lightly, though hard enough to leave a hint of the trail in their wake.
Her voice was a purr when she spoke again, eyes hooded. "Careful, Ian, ye keep talkin like ye have a key to me head and are able to pick out all me words before I say em, things might happen to ye."
It was starting to grate on her in both good and bad ways, and she truly wasn't sure what things may indeed happen to him if he kept it up.

Again with the sudden contact; his eyes briefly narrowed, his heart rate took a momentary increase, but his biggest reaction of all was just how it pulled him in. Danger, pain has a certain way of focusing the mind--even if it is a friendly smack. Instincts are instincts.
When she lifted his arm there was a few pieces of information she would've gathered about the flesh under the mail. It was heavy--he gave no aid in its lifting, and it was thick. Muscle formed from backbreaking hard work is different than that formed for looks. This type of strength is practical. It is the product of callous-forming work which would break lesser men.
"Mm. You're damn right it does. And oh, I'm sure you've had many lessons delivered in the same manner..." It was his turn. He placed a large paw on her shoulder--it was heavy, powerful, and strong. The broad fingers began to squeeze on the shoulder--near the collar bone where her fingers had been dancing. He wanted two things in his attempt; first to simply see how she reacted, and two to get a feel for her own strength. Was her toned physique there merely for alluring purposes, or was the strength present to truly be useful?
"Elune, the Light, Void... it's all real darling. It's just a matter of which you subscribe to..." He released his grip on her shoulder, "... Oh things might happen? Lady Kat, are you sure it isn't you that has a key to my mind? Because I couldn't have said that any better."

She couldn't remember the last time she had had such a decent conversation with someone while still sober enough to actually speak. He spoke her language. Outside of some of her gang members it was rare. There still felt like there was more at work however. Before she could ponder that thought further, he was speaking again and his hand was now on her shoulder. At first she tensed up. He would feel the muscles coil in such a way that hinted she was - or had been much more then some mere spell weaver. No one touched her without her allowing it. Her eyes strayed to the hand, staring at it like it might be a large spider that one was both fascinated with and yet afraid of at the same time. None of those emotions however registered on her face, nor her eyes which she slitted in contemplation.
Break a finger? His wrist? Throat punch him.... The warmth and weight of his touch began to set in then obscuring her thoughts. The squeeze made those sharp amber eyes dart to his, filled with as much warning as a tigress' eyeing a keeper at the zoo. Her brows had drawn downward a fraction, lips pulled to the left in a half smirk. The rubies on her nose ring on either side of the little skull winked at him. Finally, she let out a breath she hadn't been entirely aware she had been holding, and some of the tension was released from her shoulder as she slowly- very slowly, maintaining direct and total eye contact, brushed her cheek against his hand, the soft flesh of her cheek first tickling the hairs on his hand before the flesh.
Bite him, bite him! Go fer blood!
Her tone was mocking-yet low however as she took the time to allow her lips to form every word, "I f*cking hope ye got more power in those hands than that." Her lips remained parted for a moment, allowing warm breath to caress over the top of his hand and down along his wrist a bit before she raised her head back up and smirked.
"Elune, the Light, Void... it's all real darling. It's just a matter of which you subscribe to..." He released his grip on her shoulder, "... Oh things might happen? Lady Kat, are you sure it isn't you that has a key to my mind? Because I couldn't have said that any better."
At the word 'darling' her pierced brow rose high, yet she said nothing, finally allowing the eye contact to break briefly to watch his hand be removed from her shoulder before resuming it once more.
The man kept throwing more game pieces onto the damned table. She contemplated palming his forehead, throttling his chest as he fell backwards then stogging them down his throat to choke on.
And yet...
He said her name properly this time, without any twitches of his brow or mocking curl of his lips.
"Just keep talking, Ian. I may have a skeleton key that fits."

Oh how he relished in this moment. The satisfaction would've been evident on his face as he felt her tense up. He had taken her out of her comfort zone, and what would happen? How would she retaliate? If she did retaliate then what would his response be? The questions swirled in his mind. She was strong--it wasn't just for show. And this was good.
He had wished for more reaction in her features though and this had brought some degree of disappointment until his eyes caught hers. They spoke volumes--making up for the lack of emotion in the rest of her face. The intensity, the danger... and yet she did nothing. This revealed clearly that he had some sort of hold on her, just as she did on him. The smugness of his face had become so ingrained that he doubt it would've gone away even had she decided to break a finger or two, and despite this his breathing remained constant, and his eyes remained focused on hers.
As her words "...I F*cking hope ye got more power in those hands than that..." rolled off her tongue, the chilling voices at the back of his mind were softly whispering tempting truths into his ear "...do it... You can break her in two... show her..." but they did not have control over him; she did. Perhaps it was her soft skin running along his coarse hand, or the warmth of her breath which fought back at the fraying pieces of his mind, he didn't know for sure, but she had hushed them.
He released his hold and watched as his choice of darling pricked her, and he listened to her speak before replying. "Oh I intend to... Are you ready for what that key might set free, I wonder?
