Rook opened one eye to look at the figurine in his lap snd smiled up at her. "Thank you." He said, and hid it under his shirt to shield it from any eyes that might be around. Later it would go in his pack, and later still he'd have a special case made for it. He felt relief... Finally his life was in his own hands again, some measure of his past mistakes undone... But at the same time he was... Disappointed? ... That she'd given it back. He knew, or could guess, why she'd done it, but if she had not handed it back to him, he never would have asked.
"This is for you. Crow fly free."
He smiled, and nodded.
"Yes. But he'll stay here."
He leaned against her, nuzzling in, putting a hand on her leg. He wasn't free at all, he knew. There was a line in his heart and it was tied to hers. But he didn't mind. He didn't mind at all.
"He'll stay with you."
In the distance the beacon of the Auberdine light-tower winked on, silver against the auburn sunset. the calls of the shore gulls were growing loud, their journey was almost over.

Blaze had stared at the idol until it was out of her sight, then she closed her eyes and sighed feeling similar to how she had long ago when she had set pets free in her younger years. And she was falling and spiraling down, then she heard his voice.
"Yes. But he'll stay here."
Gasping she blinked at him as he nuzzled in and put a hand on her leg. She looked at the hand, and Mushal looked at the hand. Blaze smiled brightly, Mushal glowered a whisker twitching. She murred in her throat and nipped at his cheekbone fully ready for the boat ride to never be over so she could stay where she was. But then the sound of the gulls picked up and her nose twitched with the unmistakable scent of home. Blaze jumped up and ran to the side of the boat as the docking chimes rang out and the boat eased itself into position. She was suddenly excited to see her father, to help him and for him to meet Rook! Mushal knew where he was too and held back a yawn, he didn't like it much here it was too damp and gloomy for his tastes, but he knew the male who had a scent like Blaze was here and she enjoyed seeing him and he never seemed to pose any threat.
She glanced over her shoulder to make sure Rook was coming, then shouldered her way passed a couple people boarding paying them little mind as her feet sounded off along the wooden dock. But as she turned the corner and her father lay in the distance she slowed into a walk and then stopped altogether holding the little vial in her palm against her chest.

He smiled, pleased to his core by her reaction, and rested against her until the boat docked. When she left to run out on the dock he chuckled and stood, carefully putting the figurine in his pack and slinging the heavy bag over his shoulder to follow her. He looked up at the sky. Twilight on the third day. That was will within the parameters of the cure being successful. And Cerellan shouldn't have suffered any ill effects at all, other than resting more than normal. He noticed Blaze was stopped on the dock and he walked up alongside her, looking in her face curiously. ((You can deal with however Cerellan acts, since he's your NPC ))

Blaze looked at Rook with a blink expression, then blinked and saw him. Her eyes had tears, and she forced a smile as she turned to face him, really looking into his eyes. She tilted up her head and gently nipped his chin as she pressed her body close to his aligning their private parts. He was hers, and she hoped that when the final step was done he would be true to what he said. Inhaling his scent she then stepped away and headed down the dock at a jog toward her father. When she arrived he was kneeling with one elbow on his knee and his head was bowed low. He was sleeping.
Blaze frowned and knelt before her father touching his shoulder very gently and speaking into his hear, "Father, I have come with a new drink for you to try. Please open your eyes?"
Cerellean mumbled and slowly opened his eyes to look at the one talking to him. He stared through her with a very haunted look, "Will you help me save Anaya?" he looked around still not really seeing her, "She is trapped in-"
"Shhh, father." Blaze winced and closed her eyes a moment before opening the vial and placing it to his lips, "Here, drink." She tilted his chin up so it ran into his throat, but some still dribbled out the corners of his mouth. He smacked his lips dully then the tired look faded from his eyes and he stood back up without so much as another look at her, and stared out to sea.
Blaze stood up slowly looking as if she took on whatever weariness her father may have had and looked toward the horizon with him.

Rook stayed where he was while Blaze went down the dock to her father, still tingling from their closeness. He found he couldn't get closer, could hardly even look at Cerellan, the poor, innocent man who had been his tool, who he had used towards his own ends.
Everything would be all right now, as he had intended from the beginning, but he still felt...
He scowled and leaned against a dock pylon.
Those kinds of things belonged in his past life, not this new one. He'd have to do better. He'd have to be better.
Father and daughter talked, as they had the first time he'd seen her. He knew what Cerellean would be saying, he thought, and sighed sadly. He watched her give him the potion. And that was that. It was all over.
Well... Partly over, he thought. Some things would go on.
Father and daughter stood and stared out to sea. He moved at last away from the pylon and walked silently down the pier to them, standing behind them on the opposite side. watching their silhouettes against the setting sun.
Blaze... He felt his heart break for her, just a little bit.

Blaze stared along with her father for a couple minutes seemingly soothed by the rolling of the ocean and the colors the sun made it sparkle. She did this every time she came to see him and he always said the same things, asking the same plea. Mushal sat a spot behind them, but still in front of Rook with his tail curled around his legs. It seemed the tiger was used to this ritual and was very quiet and very patient. Finally Blaze pulled her eyes away from the water and looked over her shoulder at Mushal, then at Rook. Her voice was quiet and tight.
"Today... Not a good day. I wanted to tell him about you, to meet you, but not today." Blaze's hand reached out to touch her father's like a lost daughter, but his hand remained limp. As always, Blaze bowed in respect. Then she steeled her jaw and took a step toward Rook, resting a hand on Mushal's head not quite sure where her path lead from here. usually she just disappeared back into the forests and roamed where the wind took her. Now things were different, and being a creature of habit, she was now lost. She tilted her head and looked at Rook quietly, then for no apparently reason her hand shot out slapping him across the face.
She bared her teeth and shook her head, "That is what you get for what you did." her hands balled into fists, "Don't ever use him again, he can't defend himself." And her eyes fell to the dock and she just stood there.

Rook's head was rocked to the side by Blaze's slap. His tongue was caught between his teeth and he sucked on if for a moment as it bled. A moment later he swallowed, looking back at her, then looking down. "I won't." He said thickly, shame mixing with pain on his face. He'd done worse, though, in is time. So much worse, so many times, and all willingly. One day he would tell her, perhaps, but that day wouldn't be today. Unconsciously he rubbed the tattoos on his wrists, the ones the rest were designed to make less noticeable. Past was past, there was no changing it now. If she could come to forgive him, maybe he could work on forgiving himself. At length he looked back into her eyes. Eburi'nei. How had she done all this? She had saved him, bound herself to him, and him to her, when instead they should have torn each other apart. He felt his mouth curl into a smile, and he felt his heart unfold. He loved her. It was certain now. He took her hands and stepped into her, breathing her in, enfolding her lips in a tender kiss before nipping playfully at her neck, squeezing the hands he held. After a moment he stepped back, sighing happily. He smiled. "So..." He looked around them, the world was stretched out wide in all directions, so far as golden or silver eyes could see. "...Where do we go from here?" ((Blaze, you're welcome to post a response if you like, but I do believe we're about all wrapped up for this story arc. Looking forward to picking things up further in game. ))

((One is planned, yep. ^^
We're just taking a bit of a break while we get some in-game RP done to fill in some of the minor gaps.
