((I chose to move my Main to the Sisters of Elune Realm, as after a few days of RP I am hooked. I couldn't retain the name Triggle on this realm and didn't have the heart to "kill-off" riblet - so opted to get creative, research, and tell the abreviated tale of how Gearsby came to be [so if you're trying to make contact, it's Gearsby now] I hope it is plausible. I certainly enjoyed writing it. The Night Elf Druidess in my story is Shariadune' with whom I have had some very enjoyable contact in forum and in game. I await her review of my story to determine if she is willing to grant permission to mention her by name. I think it might be a nice way to tie my story with The Cats - my ultimate goal being to get to know everyone and be invitied to the guild. Comments appreciated and welcomed)).
Riblet Triggle Picknskin (aka. Gearsby Oddwin Cogglespan) was transported to this ‘realm’ in a freak-accident some time ago from a distant, but parallel, galaxy. While stealthing as a Rogue one day, he was unexpectedly exiled to Ebon Hold, when a Death Knight unknowingly opened a portal in his path. Frightened and bewildered, he found himself standing in the company of the Lich King.
The King was impressed with this “diminutive creature”, mistaking his freak-accident for BRAVERY...and without hesitation, transformed him into a Death Knight.
Riblet had not consented to this transformation, however, and the conversion was somehow flawed and incomplete. The desire and will to 'salvage' his former existence consumed him, and he patiently waited for the opportunity to escape Ebon Hold…an opportunity which came during the Holy Battle against The Argent Dawn, when the Lich King was wounded and weakened. The void created by the temporary collapse of The Lich King opened a portal through which Riblet narrowly escaped. He found himself standing at the gates of Stormwind, and although he was relieved to be free…he felt lost, frightened, and alone.
Gifted with an elite intellect and the inherent ability to ‘fade into’ his surroundings (an ability retained from his former existence as a Rogue), he maneuvered the sewers and canals of Stormwind, searching and praying for answers to seemingly impossible questions. Fate smiled upon him, when he unexpectedly happened upon a lovely Night Elf Druidess, who, after patiently and supportively listening to his tale, introduced him to Theridran, a Night Elf Druid Trainer located in the Mage Quarter. Theridran was touched and impressed by the Gnomes plight, and sought consult with Mathrengyl Bearwalker (Druid Trainer) and Elissa Dumas (Portal Trainer) in Darnassus. The Druids’ expertise in shape-shifting, combined with Elissa’s quantum portal theories, resulted in a hypothesis. It WAS statistically possible, though dangerous and unpredictable, to generate a portal in an attempt to ‘transport’ Riblet home, and to shape-shift him back into his “former self” in the process. Goodbye, Death Knight. Hello, Rogue.
Days turned to weeks as the endless preparations were made. “Everything must be perfect,” Elissa Dumas proclaimed, this becoming her mantra (whispering it to herself as much as anyone else), “Portals are highly unpredictable, and the result has the potential to be…well…less than satisfactory.”
It was a fine day in early autumn when the final preparations and formulations for the transport portal were completed. All were excited and proud of their contributions, but none more than Riblet, himself. He was ready to go home…to be himself again. The Gnomeregan Exiles saved the day by harnessing the required energy to ‘jump-start” the portal, which was opened successfully at a secret location of stone circles in the Arathi Highlands.
Riblet leapt into the portal....this spectacular portal of sapphire blue light, created through the efforts and boundless love of his new friends…and disappeared. To describe what actually happened to Riblet in the portal would be impossible, for no such words or phrases exist that can convey such an experience. And, in the end, it was a success…and sadly, a failure too. For he did certainly shape-shift and regain his former ‘being’, to some degree, while suspended in the void – his physical form and abilities renewed - and his days as a Death Knight a distant nightmare. But, when the blinding sapphire portal finally faded to the dimmest of flickers, and its company could once again gaze upon it – they beheld a small and frail looking Gnome huddled close to the ground, his hands clasped over his face. Like a stone statue, he remained immobile, even at the approach of his friends, already offering condolences for the ‘failed’ transport. Through encouragement and assurance, he opened his eyes to gaze upon them once more. His large, chocolate-colored eyes were empty of emotion- wide but unseeing. Never having seen his eyes, that only seconds ago glowed with the icy-blue color of Death Knight possession, his friends were tentative to interpret his expression. It soon became sadly apparent that he recognized none of them. His body and abilities were intact, but his memory shaken.
He was placed with the Gnomeregan Exiles to ‘rehabilitate’ among his own people…and, in time, did regain small portions of his memory. During his time with the Gnomes, he demonstrated an aptitude for Engineering and became adept at ‘fixing’ anything and everything. As everyone, including himself, were unsure and tentative about his birth-name proper, he was granted a new name – one that implied his talent for engineering and repair – Gearsby Oddwin Cogglespan. Much about his former existence remains shrouded in a place he cannot access fully…small fragments revealing themselves, unpredictability. Tentative in his ability to trust others, he strives to slowly rebuild his life, one friend and one memory at a time... in this place he now MUST call home…
