A small note written in Darnassian attached to a collection of records of Berzasperd, unknown author:
"Berzasperd is certainly an intersting person, not by his appearance, deeds, or heritage, but by his mannerisms and the fact his past is so muddled with his fabrications that none know what is really true about him anymore. Certainly there have been a few to try, and he seems willing to cooperate, but he has a way with things... his hand is always in attempts to draw attention away from the truth. Every recording penned down about this man is fraught with forgeries and skewed facts. Even histories that should have been easily recovered are almost nonexistent, as if there was never anything written down about him or his family in the first place. However, not all of it is misinformation. In fact, as each new tidbit of knowledge comes to light about Berzasperd, some small truths can be found, and he is by no means malicious. He is friendly, compassionate, and well thought of within the Sisterhood . Perhaps he is more secretive than he lets on, or he feels there is something that must be hidden. It could even simply be that he has no real reason apart from keeping people in the dark about himself. No matter what the case, it is not my place to judge his motivation, only to remind those that would seek to learn more about him as I have should be wary of what you read."
----
-Researched and recorded by the Darnassian Census, in cooperation with Berzasperd:
Berzasperd is essentially a normal night elf druid. Though little information has been compiled on this particular man, some of his past has been made known. What common knowledge has been found is detailed here.
Berzasperd matured at the same rate as a human and shares the same sense of urgency that the shorter lived races seems to have, even in light of years given to the now mortal night elves. Is is often thought he is only half elf because of this, though there is no evidence in his appearance and he will discredit this notion himself. Berzasperd no longer recalls his own age, claiming to have "stopped keeping track at around one hundred." Sources indicate that he is 193, roughly equivalent to a 25 year old human.* He is considered young for his race and appears to be aging at a typical rate for a night elf.
Berzasperd's line consisted almost entirely of adventurers, if even for only a short amount of time. His family tree is rather complex and involves a variety of races. However, Berzasperd is unwilling to stay in contact with any of them, and any true relations have been lost, including his parents. Despite this, he still feels they are alive and well, but isn't concerned about finding them. Rumors would have it that any direct ancesty have passed away, either in battle or in some dark dungeon.
Berzasperd was destined to become a druid early in his life. He developed an affinity for the natural world and was even able to heal small wounds before he fully understood his own language. The druids of Moonglade took note of his potential and have been training him ever since.* It was not but 50 years ago that Berzasperd has set out on his own, seeking to expand his knowledge and hone his skills.

Questions for Berzasperd: An Interview, performed by Daryn Lightwind
1. Alright, remember that starting now, everything we say will be on record. Please try to be honest. What is your full name?
"Of course, of course. I'm almost offened you would think I would lie about anything. Almost. My name is Berzasperd. Just uhh... just Berzasperd."
2. You don't have a surname? Or even the name of the house you belong to?
"No. I don't really belong to a house either. I was always told it didn't matter. Besides, I don't like to talk about it."
3. Who were your parents?
"My father was... a, well he... my mother, oh, I remember. My mother was a Sentinel. And my father... I think he was priest or something. Either way, they must be good fighters, because I haven't seen them in a while."
4. Where did you grow up?
"In Darna... oh right. North of Auberdine, I think. Back before Darkshore was so dark. Used to be called Lightshore, you know. But then we moved to Duskwood, about the same time it started being so dusky. I remember playing with the giant spiders and seeing who could spin webs faster. They always won until I got..."
5. Focus please. So you spent your youth with the humans. What was that like?
"The humans, why, they are interesting. It was different, though, but I got to go to Stormwind. Everything happens in Stormwind, or so I'm told. It was a little sad when that lady died... she was always nice."
6. What did you spend your time doing in Stormwind?
"... I was told I could elect to not answer this question. Needless to say, it was embarrassing and I'm forever grateful to the Sisterhood of Elune for helping me."
7. When did you realize your potential as a druid?
"Oh, now this is a good one. I remember way back when, I was still pretty young... you know, maybe nine years or so. Anyway, I was running through the forest in Darkshore and I lost my step and tumbled down a large hill into this patch of thorns. I laid there for a while, covered in deep scratches and bruises and I saw this nightsaber walk up to me. And it picked my up by the collar of my tunic and pulled me free. It even carried me all the way back to its den and laid me on the ground. Here's where it gets interesting, this nightsaber actually talked to me. It said, 'Berzasperd, just as I heal your wounds today, so shall you heal the wounds of others.' I couldn't believe it either, it sounded like a woman's voice, in perfect elven no less. It put its paw on my chest and I saw shimmers of green light touch all over my cuts and I watched them vanish. I must have been tired from all that, because I fell asleep. When I woke up, the nightsaber was gone, so I went back home. I've felt the warmth of Nature ever since. I'm not sure how else to describe it."
8. Nine years of age is very young for a night elf, are you sure? And how old are you now?
"That's the thing. I grew up as fast as the humans did, reached physical maturity pretty much on my sixteenth year. Baffled the priests, they told me, and now everyone seems to think I'm only half night elf. But that's silly, I told them. If I was only half night elf, why do I have such long ears? They weren't convinced though. Anyway, I'll tell you the same thing I told the other ones back in Darnassus. They even wrote down the whole story I told them. I stopped keeping track at one-hundred and one. I'm still young by our standards though. I don't look old, do I?"
9. Not really. What do you do these days?
"Why, I'm an adventurer! I go on adventurers and do adventurous... type stuff. And I also work. I'm a scribe, or a symbolist more accurately. I have to maintain the image of being a productive member of society... but I really do help out! I even lend my aid to the Sisters for healing our own when they return from places like Ashenvale. You see a lot of hurt Sentinels from that way."
10. Can you tell us more about the work you do with the scribes?
"There's not much to tell. A lot of researching old tomes and the obtaining of said tomes. Having to sort through all manner of texts hoping to find clues or new sources of magic. It keeps me busy at least, and you get to learn some interesting things. They say every bit helps for deciphering the Lexicon of Power, but really, I just like the pretty pictures."
11. What do you do in your free time, while not adventuring or working?
"Hmm, all sorts of stuff. I travel around, visit friends in Astranaar or Auberdine, places like that. I like the forests and all, it's very calming to wander about in the trees and the rivers and... oh, and swimming in the lakes or oceans. Anyway, it gets kind of lonely out there, you know, so I like to stay near Darnassus... or maybe Exodar. Pretty much any of the big cities, actually. I get lost too easy out in the wild anyway, I prefer all of the people you find in the city. I also love drinking, a little too much I'm often told. I think the real excitement for me is talking to friends. I miss my friends. Like the draenei and that night elf and the gnome and the dwarf and even that one human. Yeah..."
12. You seem to have quite a few friends. How do you view all of the races you interact with?
"I'll always have a high respect for my fellow night elves, but there's so many interesting people out there. Don't... don't tell anyone, but I kind of like the draenei. They seem so different, with their legs and all. Plus, their connection with the elements is fascinating in its own way. Truly enthralling creatures... err, anyway. I have to say, I admire humans as well. It's pretty hit and miss with humans, never know what to expect. And dwarves, I like dwarves too. They are hard to keep up with though, I still can't out-drink them. The encouragement is always nice though. Gnomes... I just think gnomes are funny. It's like someone packed a whole box of cute into a little tiny person and gave them a random personality."
13. What are your thoughts on other druids like yourself?
"I try not to think about them, to be honest. In fact... just between you and me, most of those other druids scare me. I don't like having to go to Moonglade, either. They expect me to actually do things. Although, I kind of have to take that first part back. I have met a nice one or two, but even still, the rest scare me. Heck, I don't even care much for the ones who aren't always shapeshifted. 'Never trust a druid that won't show you their true form,' my great grand-dwarf father, Pappy One-Eye Firebeard, told me. Except he said it like a dwarf would you know, I can't do the accent."
14. You had a dwarf as a great grandfather?
"Of course. You didn't know that?"
15. Let's get back on track. What is it like for you, being a druid?
"I think I have more appreciation for the natural world. Animals don't seem so savage, people seem more savage, and all the running keeps me in great shape. I don't really feel called to be feral though. Sure, it's fun jumping around as a lovable little kitty cat, but that's about all there is to it. I don't understand the druids who insist that their feral appearance is preferable. I'm a little worried they will get stuck like that and just become normal, perhaps more powerful, animals. Apart from all this, I do enjoy being able to help people. Easing the pain of others is surprisingly rewarding."
16. What do you look for in a mate?
"What? Why does everyone ask this question? I'm going to risk invalidating my answer by saying that I'm going to start making up something to use for whenever this one comes up. Let's see, I'm looking for a really tall woman with rich purple hair and a charming smile. She has to be able to hold me when I get scared, and I want her to be a caring soul who loves running on sandy beaches in the rain. Is that good enough for you? Then again, I guess her hair wouldn't have to be purple. I like all sorts of colors. And being tall isn't that big a deal either, I mean, just look at me. I barely..."
17. Did you really mean all that?
"Can't even reach the... huh? Oh, well, are you going to ask me again if I say no?"
18. No. Is there anything that troubles you? Some past deed or occurrence that worries you still?
"Nope, I'm as happy as can be. Well, usually, of course. I mean, I'm not really ever unhappy. I guess sometimes you could say I'm not happy, but that could be just because I lost whatever was making me happy before. I don't know. The past... well, the past I just ignore."
19. How can you just ignore the past? And does that mean there is something you are trying to forget?
"It's not easy, you know. It doesn't always work for me. And it isn't like I don't have things that I worry about, I just try not to let it bother me much. Besides, I see what you are trying to do. I don't just not tell things for no reason. Just ask anyone, I tell lots of things all the time. When I go and say 'I don't like to talk about it,' it's usually because I don't like talking about it. Usually."
20. In closing, is there anything you want everyone to know about you specifically?
"The only other thing I can think of to say is that I'm always willing to meet friendly people. But not any of those unfriendly types. Unless it's the type where I think it is entertaining to be really friendly to even if they act like they hate me. Unless of course they really do hate me... then that just makes it hard. Other than that, I highly recommend visiting Darnassus while Teldrassil still exists. The Temple of the Moon is so peaceful, I could spend all day there if they let me. Ah... what I wouldn't give to see the Sisters more often..."

(( Berzasperd's History is largely a side project for me. It's actually been a point that I never got too involved with his past, simply because he himself didn't really care about it. The basic principle is that he fits in as a normal member of his race no matter what world I put him in, but to exemplify his Chaotic nature, he must challenge traditions. So while Berzasperd greatly values night elven society, his past would suggest he operates independently from it, especially from that of the Cenarion Circle and his fellow druids. ))
