"Sometimes, I wonder what I would be like if fate hadn't given me the cards I have in my hand right now. You know...like where I'd be if fate just didn't say, 'Here you go you stupid girl, you're getting cards that aren't even used in this game we're playing.' Whenever I think about it...my head just hurts too much though. Though, sometimes, the cards you get make you forget who you were once, when you were just a little kid."
The voice carries across a darkly lit room. Only two brightly lit eyes, that smoke with excitement are obvious. They are connected to a thin, silhouetted by a small Orgrimmar fire that wouldn't be enough to warm any normal person on a cold night like this. The girl speaks in a high pitched voice, though it comes off raspy and worn, with a hint of sadness to it. Only a hint. She seems to be speaking to another person, though it isn't clear who or what.
"You know, some people say," she speaks in a mocking serious tone, "To start the story, we have to go back to the beginning, where it all began. Me though...? I have to go back to the end. To when I died." The blue glowing eyes face the floor now, and the only thing visible is the slight hint of smoke coming out from behind them. "This is a long story, though I hope you don't mind....do you?" The eyes rise up again, and focus on the shape of a person in the corner. Nothing but silence, but she seems to understand that the answer was 'yes.'
"After our parents died. back in the second war, me and Sis were all by ourselves. We had the home in what is now called the 'Ghostlands.'" The girl makes a 'WoooOooo' noise after she says this. "We were short on money, and couldn't afford to keep the house, so I joined the Spell-Breakers. But boy, did that ever scare the little elf poop out of Seianna! After our parents died in battle, she was pretty scared of losing me too, but I told her that I was too damn tough to die that easily....though that really is ironic now isn't it Dave?" Dave doesn't say anything, but seems to watch intently. "Anywho, so there I was, barely making the cut to be a Spell-Breaker! I had one of those cool double bladed swords, and they taught me how to beat the magic out of people! It was really something else, though I heard that a few of them became Blood Knights or something, heck, I 'dunno."
"But not long after I became one, guess what happened! Here comes ol' Arthykins, marching up the woods to Silvermoon. The alarms sounded, and all of us were rushing to the gates....getting geared up and ready to go. I...I was pretty scared, I'll admit that. I'd not even saw battle yet." She sakes her head, and once again, she appears to look at the ground. "I stood there, outside the gates of Silvermoon, with hundreds of others, every able man and woman was there, some with just pitchforks, some without even proper armor...we were taken off guard, we never expected it. We didn't even know what was going on, Arthas somehow got by our impregnable defenses, though later I heard it had something to do with that goofy asshat sitting down in Deatholme. Dark'long, or something."
"By the time we heard the alarms, it was already too late, Arthas was already in Eversong woods, marching right through, leaving a wake of doom behind him. He stood in front, like he couldn't even be touched, and...that was true. He was so powerful, waves of people fighting him would just be slaughtered...he barely even needed his army. We had no idea what he was even doing...then when we saw him cresting the hill, and the...blackness behind him, some of us knew instantly...he was coming for the Sunwell. The experienced soldiers went to the gates to the Sunwell, they tried to hold it, but it wasn't even a minute before it was all over, and half of our city was nothing but a mess.
"We all felt it when it was destroyed. It was like being hit in the face with a giant invisible hammer or something...you know? But before we could even think about it, scourge came charging into the city where I was, and we all fell back into the inn. I was...the only soldier there. The rest were just kids and parents and people who had no idea what to do. "
"So I stood in the doorway, so they could escape, holding my big 'ol shield right in the middle of it. I remember them beating away at it, just the screams they made was enough, but them constantly beating on my shield, never stopping never getting tired, I didn't know what to do...I just wanted to make sure my Sis was safe. She was there with the other survivors, I remember her screaming something to me before she left with them, but I couldn't see her anymore, and then I felt the shield give way." Her voice cracks ever so slightly as she speaks the next part. "I remember...wanting to yell back something tough, like, 'Don't you worry, Big Sis is gonna hold these bastards here, then I'm gonna show you how awesome I am.' Something like that you know, so she wouldn't worry. But I...never got a chance to. I felt my jaw, just...come loose, and fall on the ground...then everything was cold, and...everything was black."
The girl clears her throat, and looks back up to Dave for a long moment. "I never loved anyone more than my Sis. I wish she could have known how much I did love her. I learned after being brought back though, I was frozen in a giant ice cube, and dragged outside the city. Apparently someone couldn't get me out and buried me or something. I'm not really sure." The girl gets up and adjusts something, then her voice perks back up to her usual happy tone. She stands over and kisses Dave on the forehead. "Thanks for listening to me, I know I rambled a bit, but sometimes that just feels good." She puts a hand on her hip and stares at Dave a moment. "You probably can't see anything in here can you, let me light a couple torches for you."
The girl walks over to two torches on the wall, and lights them with what seems to be an engineering device of some sort. She flicks it, and the torches flare up. The girl is more clear nor, revealing her tight black jumpsuit, and her heavily stitched face. "That better Dave?" However the reason for Dave's silence becomes clear now, as the corpse propped up against the chair only stares motionless into nothing. "You're welcome."
