OR... a weak attempt at copying what you screwed up.
Either way...
To all those, past, and present who have taken the time to COPY and regurgitate all my- and my members' hard work over the past 16 years to twist it into your own guild/site.... Good luck.
Many over the years have tried to follow what i've built here and failed. But you think you can do it, power to you. It's all in the name of role-play, after all.
And whether you give credit where credit is damned well due or not... Deep down YOU will remember where it all came from, and that you are nothing but an unoriginal piece of sh*t, who couldn't cut it here, for whatever the reason, be it the inability to handle the 100% IC always, the in your face RP, or even being able to see where the LINE is... or maybe a combo of it all.
Maybe you will get people who left the Cats to join you... But you can have them. Real role-players, and real friends, won't disappear. Thanks for helping weed them out.
So try to copy what i have lived and breathed for, for 16 years. Have fun.
You'll get yours.

Allow me to chime in here a little bit. We own the copyright for various sections of the board. 8 years ago we had someone lift entire pages from our sites then try to pass it on as their own. Since then, we've had aspects copyrighted. If you take something from the site and Do NOT give credit were it is due, and it is copyrighted material, I WILL hit you with a copyright infringement order.
Not saying you can't use stuff, just saying give credit where it is due or don't use it.

How does one know what is and what is not copyrighted? Many free public forum posts fall under the fair use act. Not many in the world are up on point on the cyber laws. The stories and creative stuff fall under the fair use and are looked at as copyrighted since it is your creation. Now the process, procedures in a public setting are not. IE if someone copys and pastes how we go about recruit, setting up TRP. That is well free game in a public setting. But if we have something attached a statement saying hey you cannot use this without my permission would help keep your stuff safe and those that don't know legal.

It's really a matter of last time it happened, the people who found it contacted kat who contacted me because I was still at SOE and had resources. I contacted the person that was using about 65% of the stuff Kat created with rules and such. (I have the email somewhere, I can find it if you want. It's also posted in the officers section somewhere) I showed them screen shots of when we posted it and yadda yadda and told them they could use it, so long as they give Kat credit for creating it.
And thats what they did. They gave her a credit and a link to our site.
People won't know until you contact them. If they hadn't have done that, then there is a procedure you go through with proboards that proves you own the copywrite and then proboards will take it down
