i've always been a fan of the idea of cross faction role play. It's uncharted territory!- or it was the date of this original posting... in 208! (wow) Where anything is possible, totally new and untold stories to delve into and build.
The 'forbidden' love, the tale of heart ache when an undead finds themselves waking up in a rotted body- but still holding the memories of life in Stormwind...and the family there... Limitless!
Original WoW mechanics didn't make it easy to X-faction RP. We had to go around in circles with other programs like MSN (hah remember that?) But now... with the introduction of Battlenet and "battle net friends" the X-Faction door has been cracked open that much wider, allowing two separate factions to play in game, face to face without leaving WoW at all. *Swoon*
However, as great as that is, the catch still is you have to be on the same server. Otherwise things get tricky again.
With a true role-players imagination anything is possible. i hope that by reading this post it will spur you into creating your own cross faction role play story line and open your mind to the possibilities.

Ways to Role-Play Cross Faction Style:
- By using a message board to post on for starters!
Here you can post anything, place your character into any situation and have a story play out as it SHOULD be able to happen in game. No more 'Bob makes some strange gestures'. Here you can have Bob peer at the person before him curiously, hands upheld away from his weapons in sign of peace. And language barrier! WHATS THAT!? If your character has IC reasons for knowing a language other then what Blizzard gave them, you can indulge that here. Or even role-play out your character learning a new language from a new found friend. If you are looking OOC for a particular race, post in the OOC area stating that. You're bound to find someone willing to play with you. - Skype, Discord- (or similar chat system)- i'm not personally a huge fan of these things but Discord wasn't so painful the one time i tried it. i still much prefer IN GAME immersion.
So maybe you got the story happening here on the site, and then decide you and your posting partner both have some free time. You don't mind text based RP at all, so get onto Discord and go nuts there. It's like message board posting only LIVE. - Discord/Bnet/WoW Combo-
This may require you play WoW in window'd mode, with Discord running. Your character and friend are together in game, possibly even helping each other with quests. Discord/Bnet is for understandable emoting- or even talking if both characters have been taught the language. With the use of in game emotes that we can understand, and Discord/Bnet, it becomes a whole new ballgame. - All In Game Action-
Know a good disguise store? hehe Seriously though. Say your character is a blood elf and they want to 'pretend' they are a human. Dressing up wouldnt be so hard. Hide those ears, put on some goggles or get a floppy hat to hide those glowing eyes. Female trolls could pass for a Night Elf with the right tweeks.. And for those tauren and draenei or even the more discriminating of people who don't like the bulky feel of face paint of the way those false tusks hurt your jaw there is the Orb of Deception...or now, an Essence Swapper. (Have a hunter friend to help you ICly? )
OOC translation- make an opposite faction character that is your character incognito. Gussy up your RP Profile to describe those fake tusks, or really lanky thin appearance. HAVE FUN WITH IT! Limitless possibilities of getting into your opposing faction friends guild to be with them etc.
