As you know, Cantera is a transfer. The way I am playing her is that she died, it was not her time to go and realizing she could not return to her old dimension she was 're-located' to a new.
To help her adjust, most of the last year and half of her memory was wiped clean except for a time in her life when she felt the most fulfilled and had the highest self esteem. This was important becuase of her past.
Now, she looks for those friends who in her mind are still out there but whom she can never find. Her deep subconscience triggers hints of her past around areas that major events happened before she died and in that time frame of that erased 18 months or so. (karma)
I think that if she ever found out what happened to her...she would loose it mentally and emotionally. It took some thought for me to place her in this position. Playing a transfer I didn't want to just pop up in Sisters and say, "here I am you lucky people." ( I have a horde side pallie on Sisters who I have had since Sisters opened) To do that would be extremely presumptuous and poor style? Yet, I wanted to honor the months of role play she did and the fun and relationships she did have. You know, drag her history with her in some fashion. The stories I do write in Character Histories are just single pages from her own life.
So....please.....discuss, critique, advise, mock? thanks!

Ooo, I like the idea! It's a unique take on the transfer idea.

Yeah.. I'm going to echo Sone in saying that's nice way to to handle a transfer as part of backstory. Cant from what I've read so far seems like a very deep yet subtle character which is interesting without being 'blown out' in any dramatic faction. (i.e. having a character trait or defect so obvious that it defines the character entirely.) It's relatively easy to have either, but it's hard to get both, especially in a high-fantasy setting. So.. beyond that, I don't have too much to say just yet, other than I'm interested in seeing how things go, and I'm looking forward to more of your writing, which is excellent.
