((Told you I'd be back.
The following is a story CO-AUTHORED between myself and Anyah. Some of you may remember me as Eoth, and well, Anyah is the reincarnation of Narshira. Where I became a shaman healer, she became a paladin tank. The following is the first foray into roleplay with these characters, and it's written in parts between the two of us. I actually went back and editted it, so if there are spelling mistakes or other errors I apologize. Anyway, the point is that this is a story writting not only by myself, but by Anyah as well. I doubt this will be the last from us. Enjoy, and and always feel free to leave comments and critiques!))
"Why do you stand at maximum distance away? Is just a scorpid." Anyah grunted, pulling her mace from the crushed head of the giant insect, and began to disassemble the creature, favoring the large front claws. "Trying out new strategy?" She canted her head to the side, luminous eyes shining in the dusk-laden desert.
Telemid's face relaxes as the scorpid's blood oozes out into the pale sand of the surrounding desert. Shaking himself out of his overly-cautious stance, he shifts his eyes to Anyah, but only for a moment before turning his attention back to the now-dead scorpid. "It is dangerous creature. Has stinger like lykul wasp in Draenor swamp." "Besides, do not need to stand close to beast to throw lightning." Telemid adds in an attempt to justify his phobia.
Anyah grinned, hacking off the other front claw and leaving the rest for the buzzards. "Whatever you say. Just don't attract its attention and you won't have to run away like frightened baby ravager. “She snickered, having seen Telemid dart away for an instant after blasting the thing with a too-large lightning bolt.”It's worth the risk. They may be unpleasant to fight... but very tasty."
"You are cook between us. I can not complain about choice of foods." Telemid responded with a smile. It was a genuine compliment, but it was also an attempt to take the attention off of himself. After all, Anyah was the one who found, killed, and cooked the food, while Telemid was usually the one eating it. Not to say that he didn't pull his own weight between them, but it was no secret that Anyah was the one in charge of food.
"It's my pleasure. I like to see someone enjoy my cooking." Slinging the spoils of her kill over one shoulder, she chanted a few words, summoning her faithful steed to carry the rest of the way back to camp, on the beach in the very north eastern part of the deserts of Tanaris. "Unless you want to be here when the buzzards come for their dinner, I suggest you move." She kicked her heels against the sides of her horse, who made its way swiftly back to the beaten desert path. Telemid smirked to himself as Anyah took off into the distance. She was strong, she was confident... and sometimes she would dart away without waiting for him to follow. After watching her ride to the northeast, Telemid climbed into the saddle of his elekk and charged after her. Not in an attempt to catch her, since Anyah was riding a warhorse made from the Light itself, but just so she wasn't waiting any long than necessary for him.
When he finally did make it back to their camp, Telemid found Anyah hovering over their campfire. "It is good thing you are such good cook," Telemid said as he dropped from his elekk, "I was able to smell food all the way back into camp."
Anyah had skewered the giant lumps of white claw meat through the middle and was seasoning them with some mild spices before holding them out before the fire. "Sit down. I'm going to show you how to cook scorpid claws." She held a skewer full of meat out for him to hold near the flickering flames of the campfire. "I think you'd get a strange sense of satisfaction at making a meal of something that frightens you so." She sat back on her hooves after he gingerly took the stick from her, idly stretching as she waited for her meat to cook, the only sound being the rolling waves, the crackling flames, and the occasional hissing as a trickle of fat from the meat hit a lick of flame.
Telemid laughed. "It is only stinger on scorpid behind that I fear. Once scorpid is dead, is just like crawdad." With a heavy thump, he fell to the earth, instantly forming a seat in the hot sand.
"Should I feel guilty for tearing you away from your precious goblin inn and your straw mattress tonight?" She reached out, picking a little browned meat from the end of her skewer and nibbling carefully upon it.
Again, Telemid let out a hearty laugh. "If I had wanted to sleep in bed, I would have stayed in inn." Telemid offered a wink as he picked pieces of scorpid meat from the inside of his claw.
The paladin nodded curtly. "It's good for you to stay outside, fresh air build up your strength. Especially for your kind... stay out in the Elements, no?" Having judged her claw to be cooked enough, she happily tucked into the large chunks of meat. She -tried- to be polite, but being a Paladin was hard work, and hungry work, and it showed in how ravenously she ate.
Telemid smiled in between bites. "I have spent many centuries sleeping under stars. Whether on rock or dirt or sand, have always found soft bed to bring much comfort. But warm sand is good for sleeping, too. Is like big foam blanket that covers everything." He shot a glance at Anyah, his smile remaining fixed on his face while chewing on sweet pieces of scorpid.
Anyah chuckled after swallowing a chunk of meat. "And then in the morning, the ocean is right there to wash the sand out of places it aught not to be. Even with a bedroll it manages to find its way in." After snarfing the last of her scorpid claw, she sighed, removing her mail belt and patting her tummy.
Telemid smiled as he set his skewers to the side of the fire. "Sand has much chaos in it, but at least it does not soak though bedroll like snow." He took a deep breath, as the last piece of meat slid down his throat, savoring the last sensation of the meal. "You are wonderful cook. Many thanks for tearing me away from precious goblin inn." As he spoke, he offered Anyah a genuine smile, and nestled himself into the sand beneath him.
Anyah's smile brimmed with pride; it made her happy to please her partner so, even with something so simple. "It is nothing..." she countered, trying to be humble, but the compliment made her warm inside. She threw her skewer into the fire and then knelt up, reaching behind herself to unfasten her shield and unbuckle her breastplate. "And thank you for the company... I usually only get to have conversation with the sky before I fall asleep."
Telemid laughed, but didn't mention that conversations with the sky could be quite insightful. He had made it a point not to try and brag about his teachings or push his path on others, especially Anyah. She was a paladin, and he was a shaman. They worked well together, so there was no need to complicate that part of things any further. But what he couldn't control was staring at his partner as she unfastened her breastplate. Of course he respected Anyah for her company and strength in battle, but he also appreciated her beauty. She was strong, she was fierce, and she had the body that put even an elf to shame.
While she clearly didn't mind being watched, the Paladin did maneuver her way such that her back was to the fire, and Telemid, as she removed her overshirt, dirty and damp from the days fighting, and rummaged in her pack for a clean one to sleep in. It did reveal a measure of trust that she had in her partner, to show such a comfort level. She reached back, flicking her pale hair over her bare shoulders before shrugging a plain linen shirt over them, head bowing as she buttoned it up. "In truth, I'd rather sleep nude, but seeing as I have a guest today..." She snickered quietly, knowing she was being a terrible tease.
"I would not object." Telemid answered, almost reflexively. A wide grin was plastered on his face during the exchange of words. She knew exactly what she was doing, and Telemid figured that he was not the first man to be captivated by her. But the comment about sleeping nude... that was just cruel, but it was also a sign that she did not mind the attention.
She sat back on her butt, leaning forward to remove the boots that were carefully buckled around her cloven hooves, before unrolling her neat bedroll. "We still must respect each other, come the dawn." An impish smile still played upon her lips even though she was looking down, and not at him. Finally, the Draenei stretched out upon her soft bedroll, folding her arms behind her head as a pillow, and arching her back as she stretched out. Several bones could be heard to pop as she did so, and the Paladin let out a satisfied groan. "I only play with you because I trust you, Shaman. If at any time you are no longer amused, I shall continue only a short while longer..."
Telemid let out a playful scoff as he pulled his robes over his head, following his partner's lead of preparing for rest. "I am not like human man who thinks only with penis. That is why I look, but do not touch. I am happy to have trust, though. There are more important things in life than sex." Pulling a sweat-stained linen shirt over his head, Telemid rose to his hooves to unroll his 'bed' in the sand. Certainly he was nothing compared to the muscular paladin lying across the campfire in terms of beauty or fitness, but he didn't consider himself to be too overweight. Just enough to where his body lacked muscle tone or visible abs. Regardless, Telemid fell to the earth upon his 'mattress' and stared up at the stars. While Anyah cracked her back and stretched her limbs, Telemid stared up into the cosmos, and let the sounds of the desert soothe him into a peaceful calm. "Besides," he finally said as a soft smile returned to his face, "I enjoy being played with."
Only after he had said it, did Telemid realize the double meaning in his words. Humans often used "being played with" as a sexual reference, even though Telemid had meant it only in terms of their playful exchange of words.
Anyah rolled to the side, to gaze at the Shaman through the flickering flames of the small camp fire. "Everything in moderation. There are more important things than sex... but it's still important. Doesn't make you weak, or any less devoted to your cause. To deny yourself pleasure is to deny this blessing that was given us. All things are given to us for a reason..." She sighed heavily, rolling back onto her back... "Conversations with sky don't take as much thought as with you..."
Telemid smiled, his gaze shifted over to Anyah as he lay with his hands crossed underneath his head. "I was not arguing. Sex is good thing, yes, but there are better things for couple to have together." Hearing the paladin sigh, it became obvious that she was tired, as she should be. It was a long day in the desert, from hunting trolls to hunting dinner, and she had earned her rest. "But we can talk more in morning." He offered the paladin a smile as Telemid rolled over onto his side, his upper arm becoming a pillow as his hand extended beyond the bedroll and out into the desert sand.
Anyah grinned, allowing her eyes to flutter shut. "Yes, we shall. I'll have to make sure I wake before you, so I can go for skinny dip without an audience." She cuddled down in her sand-mattress, silently wondering how much sleep she just cost her loyal Shaman partner tonight.
