As a hopeful in a similar position, I can probably help by telling you my own... plan. *narrows eyes and leans closer*. I think the guild leaders accept bribes.
Seriously though. I think the best way is to establish who your character is, what he or she is looking for etc. Written Rps and open Rps is a great way to do that.
After that I think the best way is to contact one of the members and see if it clicks. Simply asking if you can have some random rps is a start, I suspect.
I do know for a fact that the guild leader will NEVER turn away someone with a legitimate interest. Bribing her is a bit steep though.
hope it helps and that I am not overstepping my bounds by saying all this.

As a hopeful in a similar position, I can probably help by telling you my own... plan. *narrows eyes and leans closer*. I think the guild leaders accept bribes. That depends... How fond are you of your hands? *Wink* Only kidding there, but moving on to a real response... Seriously though. I think the best way is to establish who your character is, what he or she is looking for etc. Written Rps and open Rps is a great way to do that. hope it helps and that I am not overstepping my bounds by saying all this. Exposure is key. Get your character into an open thread on the boards or have an RP with one of the members in game. Remember to be flexible in time scheduling, and don't use OOC knowledge in your IC approach. The Cats advertise nothing about their previous lives, nor to my knowledge anything about their new lives. Shalyra's pointers were very good ones, and I'm fairly certain there's more than one open thread lingering in the IC RP boards. (And no, Shalyra, I don't think you overstepped your bounds. ;D) See you both around the forums, and perhaps in game as well!

Great points everyone! Just to sum it up with my advice included: 1. Be active on the website. If you see an open thread that you might find interesting, jump in! If you don't see one, make your own. That's one great way to introduce your character. Also, read all the stuff available to you ON the website. There's tips on how to create a character, tips on how to work yourself into the guild, sections for people new to RP, etc. Most of what you need to know is here, so use it! ^^ 2. Talk to us in-game. If you're talking to us out of character, though, please indicate so by adding brackets of some kind around your text. (I.E.: ((text)), <text>, [text].) If you have questions, ask! If you'd like to RP with us, ask! If you'd like help with anything, ask! If you're not sure about how to develop your character, ask! I can speak for myself at least, if you see me online, and whisper to me, I'll answer you and be as helpful as I can. 3. Never use OOC information IC. Think of it in a real life point of view, just for a moment. If someone came up to you and said, "Hey, <insert your name here>! How are you? I know your from <insert club, job, whatever here> and I'd like in on it." but you'd never met them before, that would weird you out, right? Same thing applies to RP in general, and especially for the Cats. 4. Be considerate. We all have lives and things may come up. If someone is busy, it's not that they don't want to RP at that moment, it's that they can't....'cause they're busy. We all do our best to make sure that we can be available, but sometimes it just doesn't work. 5. Be patient. It can take quite a while to get into the guild. If you're active on the site and in game, and have given us a good impression of your character IC, then you might get in faster. If you're not so active, and are a little wishy-washy, it's going to take a lot longer. 6. We look for quality RPers. You really need to know your character inside and out. The more you stay in character, the better. And, again, the best way to do that is to DO it - RP your little hearts out, on the site and in game. I hope this answered/clarified what other people have said. If I've forgotten something, please help me out. If you have any questions, ask me! Thanks, welcome, and good luck!

*takes a breath raising a finger to talk...breath peeters out.* yea ok they all said some great stuff. i can't really think to add much more. while your two initial ideas werent bad, they still work under the assumption the Cats trust easily and fit in with horde society. Spy caught and turned.... if a Cat has any doubts about someone at all, they dont get very far. if they were once a spy, there would have to be some pretty HEAVY and LONG rp to work out how this spy would change the minds of EVERY Cat that they are no longer a spy and out to do the gang harm. Sold in service? Service of what? can't say they need a maid, they have Xrith for that. i cant speak for every Cat here, so if any dont agree they can speak up, but i can't see a Cat trusting a hrode enough or even wanting a horde enough to put hard earned gold down. People get into the guild because they want to be there. not because they are sold into it.

(( Thanx for the input, i'm just trying to get an angle that would allow for a smooth transition, btw, i've thought up a way to make the "Sold in Service", i've recently played Star Craft II, and one of the characters in game won a wife in a poker game... so... instead of a wife... the person in question gets a "Lady Friday", you know, someone to handle things ingame, like getting a room, or some other such thing... really, i'm WANTING to join, and this, again, is just an idea, but i'm down for any suggestions or ideas that others may have and will go along with anything... again, thanx ))

*Scratches her chin.* Alright. You seem a little bent on this idea that being in service to a guild member in whatever capacity is an 'in' to the guild. I'm not really sure it is at all. I can't speak for everyone, but Khaz (who really wouldn't be likely to have a servant in any capacity) wouldn't take someone she won in a bet or purchased or whatnot to the guild... This family is one who has scraped itself together from very hard origins. Those from the Alliance side of the coin lost many there to a sickness that bred hate in once-trusted comrades. Those on the Horde side (which, honestly I don't know who else is a true horde-born in our ranks at the moment so I may be speaking solely for myself) have their own dark pasts to contend with. People in service in the way you suggest are people we know nothing about initially and would take time to learn. I would strongly recommend playing to the strengths of your character and to her past. Being sold or won in a gambling match tells us collectively one thing off the bat, you were in a position to be sold or won in the first place. That begs a lot of questions. Why? Who made it so? Why did they do it? Are they likely to cause trouble for us? Can we trust you? Etc. While you may have ready answers for many or all of the above and for the unwritten questions here, I don't know for certain how many Cats would care to take the time to figure them out. I also don't know how many partake of gambling save to the dice for pieces of exceptional equipment. Also.. I'd recommend establishing yourself with characters whose opinions carry more weight (Shari'Adune especially since her job is to meet new people who make potentially good guild members) among the other Cats (and this goes for all potentials). I'm glad you feel I'm friendly, and I do want to help, but Khaz has been a Cat for less than two weeks game time I believe. While I'd LOVE to know what Kat would say if Khaz did approach her with someone and tell her this person needed to be admitted to the family... I really don't think it would get you far. Now that's not to say Khaz's opinion is worthless. It's a still leg up, but at any rate there's a little more to discuss. Considering what I've said above it also seems appropriate to stress something Kat said: In that she is talking about the character, not the individual. We know you as a player want to be in the guild, but you need a good reason to want the same as a character. Honestly, being a servant (whether that means flower picker or maid) for a guild member may just end up as that. Perpetually in service and so close to the guild that you can see us on occasion, but never in the ranks of it. I'm gonna direct you to the post I made with my thoughts during my application process and offer you my apologies that your idea doesn't really work out with khaz. My thoughts during my application process.

Khaz had some great points. As to what Kat would say if a gang member came up to her about now with someone they bought or won or whatever and said, 'yeah, bessy needs to be admitted into the gang and entrusted with all our secrets now coz she's my new maid'.... well. i'm sure it would be a very colorful reaction. But there is no way in all nine hells Kat would allow some random maid waif into the gang. Again, without VERY compelling RP to back this character up. we are not questioning your want to join as a player. we are simply telling you what things won't work- or have a high chance of not working... and encouraging you to think of some things that will. There are really limitless ideas, i listed a whole bunch in Any Tips How I could Work My Char Into the Guild?. i also encourage you to seek out the Ambassadors OOCly to speak with. It's their job to help people interested in joining. However if they are in an instance or something or busy with someone else, don't take it to heart they will arrange a time to be able to talk to you. In the meantime use the site to post your questions, concerns and or ideas.

(( again, thanx for the input... you guys have given me a lot to think about, and i've recently read the "tips to join" and saw a few that i actually liked, and as for how my character acts... well, she's a city girl through and through, so the only way i could even REMOTELY see her actually RPing her way in is through a social function, and from what i have seen, most of the cats would NOT bee seen at a black-tie affair, right? anyway, i'm still hitting a stone wall trying to come up with a way to get in and gain trust but i'm having trouble, if you could put an ambassador in touch with me in game? i'd really appriciate it. ))
