The small female Tauren blends in with the pale grasses around her as she moves slowly towards her prey, placing each dirty, chipped hoof with precision to avoid making a sound that could give her away. She is downwind of the mighty Kodo, creeping up ever so steadily .
She fires, and directly after the impact of the razor arrow into Arra'chea's hide, there is a moment of terror and exhilaration when the ruling Kodo's furious attention is focused solely on her. All she can do is grab another arrow from the quiver slung around her shoulder, and bring it up to draw back, sighting again on the creature's maddened right eye. There is a flurry from behind Arra'chea's large chestnut-coloured body, and the beast forgets its headlong charge towards Annaki, turning instead to meet what it thinks is a much larger threat.
"Spectre, kill." She gives the command with a pleasant and strangely commanding voice, much lower than her normal speaking pitch and almost hypnotic. The white lion immediately lunges for the Kodo's throat, dodging the massive head which swings towards him like a hammer, using guerrilla tactics to strike at the jugular and smaller vessels. He lunges free of the bulky horned visage, turning to harry Arra'chea and winding her in circles while Annaki continues to fire steadily. There is a horrific moment when Arra'chea remembers her original enemy, turning back to charge at the Tauren in one last gathering of her strength. Annaki shoots one last arrow with tremendous force, knowing that her worn leather jerkin will do little to protect her from the desperate animal. The arrow lodges itself in the great body and ends the conflict, although the woman must still dodge the final charge, leaping to the side with a grace that belies her gaunt and scarred body.
The great beast slumps forward, the loss of blood and the pain finally too great to withstand. Annaki hefts her rusted mining pick above her head, letting chestnut eyes meet sable before delivering a merciful stroke to the head, ending the creature's pain and life in one blow. Annaki immediately kneels, heedless of the rough ground under her gaunt white legs, and salutes the Kodo, praying and thanking Arra'chea's spirit for the challenge and honour to have fought her.
Spectre lets out a bellowing roar, challenging the surrounding animals and proclaiming their prowess on the killing field. He too honours the fight for the challenge it was, roaring again in respect. As Annaki finishes her preparations, he turns to lick at an unnoticed cut, a glancing blow opened and bruising from the kodo or perhaps from an earlier fight; he is unsure and the adrenaline coursing through his system makes him even more uncertain. Ablutions done and respect paid, Annaki comes to her companion to thank him for standing by her side, and then his wounds no longer matter. Raising up he places his paws on her shoulders, knocking her over gently and rasping his rough tongue over the guard on her forearm. She rises, entwines a scarred hand into his rough mane, and then together they head for the distant cliffs of Thunder Bluff.
Hopefully by now, Rahaith has finished his rituals and they can continue to travel, away from the main city. A board mentions that the Warchief is requesting troops to an area called Northern Barrens... perhaps that should be their next stop?
