Her fingers swiftly drag across the parchment, testing the wetness of the ink. It holds fast, and Karrii lets out a deep, yet shaky sigh. Is this considered treason? Surely not. Only the Bilgewater goblins are strictly Horde after all, and that new model looks absolutely fantastic, and now that Karrii doesn't have to worry about where she'll wake up or where her next meal is coming from, she's left plenty of time to collect herbs and skins to sell to the better professed of Azeroth's people.
It would be a simple matter of dating and signing her letter, attaching the gold, and hoping for the best as she signs her life away.
With luck, the new Kingling isn't a stickler about who is considered Horde and who isn't, but god damn that catalog had a great looking scope and Karrii wants it more fiercely than anything she's ever wanted before, (except for maybe joining the Cats.) She's never had the opportunity to have something nice just for herself, and the thought of splurging what gold she has raises her blood pressure and causes a deep sense of anxiety, but she swallows it down with a quiet "Treat yourself."
The letter comes to the Goldshire Inn the next day, in the early hours of the morning. Karrii accepts it easily, opening it to find a meeting place just south of Goldshire, and a time signed with a mess of chicken scratch that she can't read.
She giggles excitedly, bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet. She even orders breakfast, two eggs and a link of sausage! Maybe this new contraption will even help her find Scout out there alone in the wilderness.
She swings her hips eagerly as she makes her way outside, her eyes lifted to the sky. It's just after dawn, bright and early enough for her to scurry away to the meeting place outside of the kobold infested mine. Naturally, away from any prying eyes. Karrii is alone for a few moments while she crosses her arms and examines the surrounding area, wondering what the broker's mode of transportation would be.
Her questions are soon answered as a glowing, blue portal appears at the top of the crest to the west. Hurried footsteps carry her in that direction, and she perks up as two goblins pour from the portal, one male, one female. Both are particularly well dressed, while the female has her dark hair wrapped up in a tight bun on the top of her head. Karrii recognizes her request letter in the female's hands, and she peers through her expensive-looking glasses to the young woman.
"Smithson, Karrii?" she questions, the girl nodding in response. "Great. Kaz here has your scope and ammunition. He'll install it for you. The charge is included."
The male does look a little rougher around the edges, Karrii notes. He could use a shave, and approaches her easily, as if he'd done it ten thousand times before. "Sure." she answers, drawing her old gun from her shoulders, offering it with a bit of that residual excitement still following her. It doesn't matter to her in this moment that these are Goblins she's dealing with, just that a shiny, golden scope has been added to her firearm.
"Alright, these pack a punch. Watch yourself." he warns Karrii, giving her a box of the high-velocity rounds she sought. "Take out anything under five tons, guar-an-teed."
She accepts the flimsy box, adorned with a strange language she can't recognize, and cartoonish pictures of dead dragons and kodos. "Sure. Thanks!" Deft fingers load her rifle, and she lifts the scope to her eye with the stock lodged heavily in her shoulder.
"Oh wow." she murmurs, eyebrows lifting. She can see damn near down to Duskwood, she'd swear it! She lines the black cross hatchings of the scope up with her target, and rests a finger lightly on the biting metal of her gun.
"Fire it, see how ya like her." the male suggests, adding on as an afterthought, "Jus' remember, those are high velocity-"
Too late, Karrii has pulled her trigger and fallen backwards with a cry of immense pain. Stars blossom in her vision, and it hurts so greatly she's afraid she's completely lost the eye. She blinks hard, and can see blue sky from her right side, but the left is woeful darkness.
"Easy, EASY." the female Goblin raises her voice, rushing to the human's side, peering down at her face. "Oooo that's gonna be nasty. Kaz, get the first aid kit. Pop one of those portable ice packs."
Karrii's hands flicker to her cheek, the sudden waves of pain so intense she can't even make a sound as she rocks back and forth.
"I know baby, I know." the Goblin coos, petting the human's hair gently. "Don't worry, it hurts, I know." She sighs, and peers at Karrii curiously. "Did your mother give you permission to buy it?" she questions, while Karrii can only groan as the ice pack presses into her face. Blood seeps past the chemical pack, staining the linen its wrapped in ruby red.
".... No refunds." Kaz declares, offering a meek grin.
