(So I am stuck at work this weekend, but they unlocked my internet! Anyone is welcome to join this!) Visions of scarlet, gold, and apricot leaves dancing in the warm summer breeze, the stark ivory of the trees a heavy contrast to the deep emerald carpet of lush grass beneath her feet. The smell of damp morning earth swirled through her senses, the honeysuckle flowers waking in the predawn light, the flowers releasing a sweet perfume throughout the entire forest. Creatures of all sizes, from the smallest of hares to the largest of the Dargonhawks, could be heard rustling about as the pale light crept into their dens and hiding places, stirring them from the moon's sleepy grasp. Her fiery red hair hung free, cascading over her shoulders and falling to the small of her back. The breeze that fluttered through the trees lifted small strands of her hair, sending it dancing around and across her face and neck. Soft emerald orbs gazed upon the beauty that surrounded her with an innocent curiosity, blinded to the cruelty of the world; blinded to the evils that surrounded her and her little paradise, to the coldest her people were capable of.
Sulfur permeated the air and fires blazed high, the darkness of the forest that surrounded her a far cry from the life she once knew. Damp moss soaked in blood squelched beneath her footsteps, the sparse grass trampled and destroyed leaving nothing but thick brown muck behind. She slowly made her way through the shades, an aberration swirling in and out of sight with the smallest glimmer of moonlight and stars that glittered through the thinning trees. A woman lay not far from her, a woman not too far different from herself- or what she once was maybe. Emerald eyes stared into the sky blankly, their soulless stare tugging at something within her, the woman's pale skin and fiery red hair covered in a foul mixture of her own blood and muck from the ground she laid upon. A jagged polearm protruded from the elven woman's chest, materializing from the shadows she stood above the dead woman, her face a lacking much, if any, emotion. "You damned yourselves when you damned us and followed her." Grabbing the polearm and ripping it free from the chest cavity she secured it once again into the sling on her back and disappeared into the shadows.
The bright morning light of Stormwind was a blinding contrast to her night before. Fresh bindings were wrapped around her left bicep and shoulder, disappearing beneath the simple black tunic she wore. Her right forearm wrapped sparsely as well just above her wrist. Violet and sapphire orbs gazed down the cobblestone streets, merchants preparing for their day and children running to their classrooms. Scowling she turned and made her way along the canals between Dwarvern District and the Cathedral, crossing the bridge between the two and heading in the direction of the gardens behind the Cathedral. The bubbling fountain grabbing her attention as she made her way through the twisting dirt path back onto the white cobblestone path of the district. Finding an empty bench near the fountain was easy, her head leaning back against the wall with a deep sigh as she slowly closed her eyes.

It was an odd place to casually loiter. At this hour the Cathedral district was lightly buzzing with the activity of the clergy men and women who served at the great cathedral. Naturally so, Cillian seemingly aimlessly wandered into the district. He wasn't truly aimless--no that was a bit of a show to make him seem more inconspicuous, rather it was as good a time as any to see if any new contracts were floating around the mouths of those gathered. Typically if someone has an issue of a certain... supernatural spin then the church is the first place they come to seek answers.
His stroll took a different turn as he noticed the void-touched by the fountain. It further turned as he realized he knew this one. He approached her with a certain swagger, not too unlike his normal borderline cocky attitude. Before he spoke he ran a hand through his coppery hair. It was getting longer than normal and was probably in need of a cut, but these few reddish locks were in his way nonetheless.
"Interesting choice..." His deep voice rumbled smoothly from his chest. He of course was referring to the juxtaposition of her void infused nature contrasting rather harshly within the shadow of the Cathedral of Light which dominated this square, and in fact is where the district gets its name.

She was ignorant to the hushed whispers and bustling feet of those going about their morning business throughout the Cathedral grounds. Her hands folded in her lap gently as she slowly opened an eye at the sound of his familiar voice. "Oh look it is my lucky day, my favorite person has just happened to find me." A wicked grin spread across her dark lips as her voice dripped with sarcasm. Opening her other eye now she straightened up and gave him a glance over, but she remained seated. "Can I not enjoy the beauty of the Cathedral? Or are you afraid I am going to taint it with my cheese touch?" She shot him a challenging stare, her brow raised.
Glancing around them she met the questioning stares of the passerby's, many glancing away as they were caught. Looking back to Cillian she sighed and stretched side to side before raising her arms above her head with a small grimace. "What do you know of the void? Honestly."

...more than you would believe, Shadow Dove... This thought came immediately to his head... though he wasn't entirely sure it was his own. Instead he grumbled a bit and offered a rather textbook, if not realistic, understanding of the void.
"More than most I would assume. I've seen what it can do to those weak-willed, the unnatural and consuming reality of it. And I know how to fight it... banish it. I know it is not wholly... evil? There are those like yourself who believe they can harness it. Use it to better yourselves and the alliance... Cheese touch or not I have a limited understanding... plus the more of you who dare to utilize it surly means more work... and coin for me right? Someone's got to clean up the mess."
He shoved his hands into his pockets, blue eyes staring her down... but in a friendly sort of way. Almost as though he feared for how she might be treated, loitering in this place.
"The cathedral will withstand your cheese touch, I'm sure. And lastly..." He had a way of replying to her comments in the opposite order from which she presented them, "I just knew I had made a favorable impression on you. Tends to happen a lot. And you're lucky, I'll grace you with my presence for a moment. If you don't mind, that is."

Smirking and shaking her head with a smirk, bringing her feet up and sitting on them as if she was ready to meditate. "I will consider myself the most lucky for your presence." Leaning forward her elbow rested against he knees as she eyed him curiously. "You give a very elementary answer though, not something I would expect from someone that began their reply with knowing more than most, I expected more." Her gaze remained fixated on him, motioning to the empty seat beside her, "Please though, do take a seat. I would hate to appear rude and keep you standing there."
Her weight shifting again as she straighten up and leaned back, resting against the wall behind her. Looking up at the sky absently now, "Those weak of will, will be consumed by the void- dragged down to madness." She smirked, her shoulder rising and falling lazily, "That is something anyone looking into the void learns first though, a child could learn that." Glancing over at him again she eyed him, "You make a living of it though, so I believe you are holding out on me. How rude."
Grinning she looked away from him again, her gaze wandering back to the blue sky above them, "What would you make of a book guarded by a void aberration? Particularity a book taken from an Ethereal research facility?"

He gave a quick sniff through his nostril and rubbed his nose before moving close to take a seat.
"You should feel lucky and I was wondering if you were going to invite me in for a seat, I mean some would consider the amount of time I had to wait to be the actual rude gesture. But it's okay, I forgive you."
He plopped himself down on the stone bench and stretched his legs out, making a deep groan as the tension released.
"Holding out on you? Come now, I'm sure you know more about the void than I do... given your touch, so then the real question is what do you have to gain from my knowledge? Little more than amusement, I'd bet." His eyes casually drifted to the spires of the cathedral... then down to the smooth slate of the street.
"Though I am curious as to what you mean... with your example. It is oddly specific, yeah? Are you attempting to gather a book which just so happens to be guarded by a void aberration? A book which was taken from Ethereals? Personally I would leave well enough alone. Book like that probably needs to keep its secrets contained."

A small snort of amusement escaped her, her gaze remained high above them, shaking her head. "I forgot you humans are always rushing around. Rushing to do this, rushing to do that. I never thought that the length of time you were standing was really all that long to be considered offensive." A small smirk creeping along the corners of her lips, glancing over at him out of the corner of her eye, "I saw it as a proper amount of time to establish a conversation was actually going to take place. No point in offering a seat if you were just going to rush off on me." Her lips parted with a quiet chuckle. "I am grateful for your forgiveness though, I would have no idea what to do with myself if you never forgave me." Shooting him a glance, her voice drooling with sarcasm.
Eying him as he took a seat, her brow raising at the sounds he made, "Growing old already? Such a shame." Smirking she remained seated the way she was, sitting on her feet with them crossed beneath her. She nodded briefly at his sentiment on holding back, "Now it is you that does not give yourself enough credit. I may be greatly older and have devoted my entire life to the research of the subject, but that does not mean that in all those years my mind has changed." She paused for a moment, pushing her hair back with a hand, "To say there is possibly nothing I could learn from your opinion is absurd. You may think differently than I do, or maybe you have happened upon something I have never had the chance to see due to geographical differences. There is always something to be learned from everyone we meet, any scholar who says otherwise is a fool." She smirked and chuckled softly, "You can even learn something from a fool."
The smirk on her lips grew a little wider before slowly fading away with a small nod. "Oddly specific, yes." Leaning forward again her arms resting against her thighs, "The book was created from one of the Ethereal's research and it is my belief that he then bound this aberration to it in order to guard his research, which was specifically on binding the void for one's own use." Grinning as she looked over at him, "So boring, suggesting letting something so enticing keep it's secrets."

He leaned forward resting his elbows on his thighs and his normal smirk was cut into his fair features. His eyes gently followed the symmetrical lines of the slate street. From time to time studying something so repetitive and predictable would help focus his train of thought.
"Well well, you're a right old Pandaren master. Look at the wisdom you spout out. I guess there has to be some positive for your advanced age. Is that why they let you continue to study despite your current state? Your olden wisdom?"
He looked up for a moment before returning to study the street.
"Tell me--we humans might have our quirks, no doubt due to our mortality, but you have yours as well. That craving addiction to some sort of magic? Is... Is that what drove you to the void? I wonder? The fel didn't 'do it' for you?"
He shook his reddish head,
"Ah, nevermind--I'm not really interested. But what I am interested in is just what secrets in this book seemed to have piqued your interest? It might be boring... But some secrets are best kept just that--secret."

"I couldn't agree more..." came a deep purring tone as Kat casually strolled around the fountain , her arms lightly crossed. Her amber gaze took in Zay, adding a nod of acknowledgement, and then to Ian, a cool look that almost seemed to go through him. Her customary salute to a fellow gang member, was loose.
"I only caught the tail end," she admitted taking up a near by position to them, equal distance from both.
She wore her tabard, casual cloth pants and knee high boots, flaming dagger strapped to her hip along with her flask, coin pouch and other bits and bobs.
"What sort of juicy secrets are we talking about."

She glanced at him from the corner of her eye as his motion forward caught her attention, the smirk on his lips causing her brow to rise a little with curiosity. Slowly leaning back again, resting her head against the cold stone and looking over at him lazily. "I spent long enough with the Pandaren, at least I can tell them I learned something." A devious, playful grin on her dark lips, her hand pushing her hair back again behind her ears. "And my current state? I think my current state is a product of our research and the closest to our goal we have been in a long time." Pausing her lips pursed together in a thing line for a moment, "Albeit we did acquire this form in quite an unexpected manner, this was not an outcome we expected upon entering the rift."
Her shoulders rising and falling slowly with a nonchalant gesture, "Might have your quirks?" She glanced over to him with a soft chuckle but left it there, "Ah our famous magical addiction," She paused, chewing on her bottom lip thoughtfully as her mind wandered, "I was never a fan of the fel magic my people took to survive. I was hoping that there would be a different path for my people in the void, but that was not the case." She smirked and looked away from him with a small shake of her head, "But like you said, you are not interested in that story I guess."
Laughing and taking a deep breath, slowly exhaling. "I am a researcher, a scholar, I enjoy the pursuit of knowledge- even the dangerous knowledge. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward." Glancing back over at him again, "Let me ask you something," She paused for a moment before continuing, "To what lengths are you willing to go for power? Do you desire to be stronger?"

(Kat is the sneakiest sneak)
She glanced from Cillian to Kat with a smirk, her shoulders rising and falling again in a slow shrug. "The void and all the fun things we can discover still from it." Leaning forward, away from the wall she gave her hair a casual shake to reposition it.

Cillian's eyes moved from the street to Lady Kat. She was a much more interesting view for them to gaze upon. He threw up a quick salute to his Lady and then shrugged to answer Zay's question.
"What lengths am I willing to go for power? Meh. Not very far--at least, not with regards to the type of power you are referring to... no... my desires lie elsewhere..." His voice drifted and clearly had a subtle hint of something mischievous as his eyes rounded over the curve of Kat's hip.
"But look at you, and that trade! Fel for void, such a drastic change of pace!" He made the off handed comment, dripping with sarcasm.
"Clearly you desire that specific brand of power; just watch out that it doesn't consume you too." He rattled off with an impish grin.
"So there's this book of secrets, and you wish to have your cheesy little hands on it, but what? Void aberration too much for you to handle? Doubt it..." He seemed keen on answering his own questions. "Is it help you desire? Or just some of my pieces of well-earned experience? A trick to dealing with void monstrosities, perhaps...?"

Fiddling with the neck of her tabard, pulling at it slightly she regarded Zay as she spoke then snorted at Ian's answer to the question of power.
"As fer me," her tone was full of self importance, "I think I'd do almost anything fer more power. It led me to using the void, enslaving the demons within it... bending them to me will and serving me. Twas a fun game at the time... but they annoy me. More power means more control. Control be so very important in all situations."
Her eyes strayed over Zay thoughtfully, appreciating her form which was more human than elf. "Would I go to the lengths ye did, to physically change and embrace some violent unknown? Not f*ckin likely. I like to know exactly what I be gettin into. All the angles. While surprises can be fun, sometimes..." her voice trailed off, gaze drifting toward the sky with a thoughtful breath, "they can lead to lack of control... and chaos."
Shifting her weight to her left hip she tilted her head slowly to the side watching Zay again, "Yer after some book? What book be worth the trouble?"

Her brow raised, his response piqued her interest, "I am surprised, most human's I speak to are always willing to grasp at whatever power they can grab a hold of." She smirked and looked to Kat with a small nod, "Maybe it is only the women who posse this drive for power, men are too easily distracted." Her eyes rolling at his sarcastic comment as she waved her hand dismissively at him.
Unfolding her legs from underneath her and crossing them, one foot resting on the cobblestone beneath them as the other hovered just above. Looking back to Kat, "Demons are a different beast of their own, fel tainted creatures that they are, though those who have shown a mastery of controlling them seem to do well enough to keep the hellish creatures in check. I am impressed with that void walker I saw you with the other day in Arathi, that is more impressive than simple demons. Though more power, more control. You are very right about that too, but sometimes you can not gain what you want without a small element of surprise." She grinned and motioned to herself, "Like I was telling him, when we entered that rift with Magister Umbric we never anticipated that we would all almost lose our lives and then be turned into this."
Looking back to Cillian she nodded briefly, rolling her neck side to side as small audible pops filled the silence. "Needing help would imply that I needed to fetch the book." Grinning wickedly over at him, "I was simply asking your opinion of it, which was lack luster at best." Pursing her lips together thoughtfully as she leaned back against the wall behind her again, "The Ethereals are quite interesting beings and their research has proven dangerous to pursue, but rewarding. This book in particular was taken from a research lab that was abandoned and destroyed, I believe something was unleashed there, something they could not handle and I wonder if the books secrets detail what it was." Tapping her index finger against her lips, humming quietly to herself.

He smiled at her comment, how had she earned his opinion, what was in it for him? He was, more a less a mercenary, and coming to face with a task for personal gain? He'd better have a good reason to put his skills (even if it was just an opinion) out there, and currently she did not offer one. Of course, if she was merely making conversation then that'd be different... probably not worth his time anyway--or he'd play it up for his own enjoyment.
"Lack luster is what you paid for, CT. And it sounds like you need more than a mere opinion anyway, if they, who have spent ages studying the void, could not handle whatever they wrought upon themselves, then what notion do you have that you'd be any better off?" His fair head tilted slightly to the side and his eyes slowly drifted between the two.
"I mean you're saying one thing, yet what you're implying is another altogether. You say you don't imply that you want this book, yet you are probing for our interest in what this book holds." He shrugged his shoulders lazily, "Either this is all hypothetical--small talk, or you're actually interested in this book..." He brought a finger to his chin, "Or perhaps you already have the book... which again just means this is small talk. So then? Which is it?"

Playing with the nose ring that dangled from her septum with her tongue idly she considered Zay's words, appreciating the dance the woman was giving. She knew it was a dance as she used the same footwork often herself.
A random dwarf walking by pulled her attention from the elf, just as Cillian began to talk. Smoothly, she slid her gaze from the stranger to the paladin, still playing with her piercing, tongue tickling the little silver skull.
"Whether she has it er not," her gaze slid from Cillian's face with a languid roll of her head toward Zay, "she is just seeing what we think about it. Learning about us, as we are learning about her. Slick."
With a slow blink and suckle on her inner cheek Kat shrugged her copper shoulders and offered a smile, "In me experience, both sexes are capable of wanting and going after more power. But aye... men DO tend to get distracted more easily... Tis because they never really grow up." stares down her nose at Cill a moment, "Always chasing after the next exciting thing to turn their head, just...like... children."
Her eyes widen a bit as she flashes a devious grin, "Imagine what they could accomplish and," she reached up a hand before her, as if to grab something from the air, "grab onto, if they could only focus long enough? But that would require growing a pair..."
Inhaling softly she allowed the hand to drop back to her side, trailing up her thigh to then rest on her hip, "Ye didn't happen to take that book from the lab did ye Zay?... " She nods to the bandaging on her wrist. "And ye just can't read it fer some reason?"

An annoyed grumble accompanied Cillian's arms as they crossed his chest. His eyes narrowed as he listened to Kat speak. He seemed to lose some interest in what Zay had to say for a moment as he took in a particular jab his Lady had planted in her conversation, just for him. "Mm. You know Lady Kat, there is a difference between knowing what one wants, and waiting for the right opportunity to seize it. A difference of working for a goal and being too... afraid to take the chance. Plunge into the unknown and potentially uncomfortable" He leaned back and looked back to Zay.
"Now I don't know CT all too well, aside from her stalkerish beginnings, and her seeming desire for power, but I have no doubt that if there were a new experience--even at the risk of a bit of control, she would take it. I mean look at her, she's f*cking purple. She's got the balls. I'm sure if she did have the book she wouldn't be afraid to open it. To let the new... exposure in." A smug little grin nestled on his lips, his eyes seemingly focusing on the Void Elf.
"So surely--the only thing stopping a woman like her would be the off chance that she couldn't read it. But I'm sure that's how you came to your conclusion? Right? You know this woman isn't one for fear, don't you Lady Kat? It is admirable. Don't you think?"

A devious grin painted her dark lips with the smallest of nods toward Kat's comment, "I am trying to learn more about you all, you intrigue me." A light chuckle escaped her lips under her breath, "In the good kind of way of course, a song and dance between myself and your gang." Her attention never shifting from Kat, the ever persistent grin tickled the corners of her lips.
Her shoulder rising and falling in a lazy motion, "Yes you are correct, men can get things done when focused properly and grow a pair to go after it." Her head nodding softly in agreement, her eyes drifting down and across the bandages on her arm, inspecting them and turning her arm over in a slow motion. "These new things? Ah no a Sin'dorei and I just did not see eye to eye. Something about being an abomination." Waving her hand dismissively at the comment.
Raising a brow she glanced over at Cillian with an inquisitive stare, "And when exactly is the right moment for anything?" Pausing for a moment as she brushed a few strands of hair back into place, a wicked smirk point in his direction as he spoke, "I am actually quite happy with the end result of becoming purple, I love this color." Her grin faded a little, relaxing as she listened to him, brow still slightly raised, "I am not without my fear, do not mistake my chaotic nature for a lack of fear."
Looking away from him and back to Kat, "The book withholds its secrets, but I have also discovered how to coax them from it. Whatever is bound the the book is weak and it knows it is vulnerable. I honestly had thought the book destroyed when I disposed of it the last time, but Grim'un can attest to it coming back to be rather upset." A dark laugh escaped her lips, her eyes never moving from Kat, "If I feed it energy from the void more is revealed to me, but in that process it grows stronger until it can become a physical manifestation again, and the last time that happen it almost led to disaster."

*Comes walking out of the Cathedral, talking to what could only the teacher of medicine that has been instructing lonely souls in how to treat wounds, and other ailment*
Thank you kindly, on the refresher
*He looks around, takes in a deep breathe as he closes his eyes, as he exhales he opens his eyes and looks around the courtyard. Spying a familiar purple hued figure lounging on a bench near the fountain, a fiery red haired female standing near the Ren'Dorei. This brought a smile upon his face. With further examination of the area he spies one of the newest members of his family. He thought to himself "Wonder what these assholes are doing gathering around such a holy place" *
*He slowly strolls down the steps as he hears his name gracefully floats out Zay's lush purple lips*
Why is it every time I come upon you all my name is always being said
*Smiles as he adjusts his tabard, salutes Kat and Cil, and gives Zay a slight nod*

Amber eyes rolled at Cillian's comment to her, both brows raising as she replied in a silky smooth tone, "How naive of you to think that one has unlimited opportunity in this life... That things be so gentle and easy that one can take the time to plod along waiting." she clawed at the air again, this time as if plucking an apple from a low branch in his direction, "The wise don't wait. They see what they want and they f*cking TAKE it. No time or opportunity wasted."
She listened to him continue on about Zay and the book, which turned her gaze to the woman. Kat's expression was neutral, her posture like she was comfortable with an air of boredom.
"Nay, she don't seem one fer fear," she brushed her nails over the front of her tabard, then inspected them a moment before continuing, "However only idiots ignore fear. Fear be something worth paying attention to... at the right times. I don't know her well enough yet to determine how she deals with it- er not- yet." A thin smile was offered to Zay then, along with a minute nod as if apology for speaking about her like she wasn't there.
"Mmn, of course ye be intrigued by us." her eyes held the other woman's easily, then watched as she looked to her bindings. "Ah, so ye had a tiff with one of yer own... That aint surprising. But what be curious to me is why ye aint bothered to heal it yet. Ye are capable of such sh*t eh? So why not," her fingers twiddled in the air a moment, "and fix it right up. Or are bandages an 'in' fashion now with ye people?"
When Zay corrected Cillian's comment, indicating she did indeed have fear Kat chuckled deep within her throat as her smile grew larger, more appreciative. Indeed this elf was worth her time, and was only confirming her initial impression of her each time they met.
The Ren'dorei continued then, also confirming Kat's suspicion she already had the book. Sneaky bitch. But Kat figured she had, Zay was using such familiar dance steps. Her weight shifted from one hip to the other, head sliding to mirror the motion.
"So, yer telling me the book.. be alive then? Perhaps a demon then in... the form of a book?" her brows knit together once, glancing to Cillian, "Or somehow a book possessed by a demon? Is that possible?"
Derailing her train of thought was Grim's voice. If she were in such an unlikely place in the city, only made sense that he would have to be here too. Now they could both look out of place together. With a soft chuckle she nodded to him and offered a salute, "Hail Grim... Tis always being said coz we can't ever get over yer general stupidity."
